Honeymoon Days 6-9 Arenal Volcano ctd...
Sunday the honeymooners trekked to the La Fortuna Waterfall. About 15 minutes down a step winding trail and 30 minutes back up. They got their workout! The view of the waterfall was worth it... here are a few pics.
Wendy waving hello... or was it goodbye?!
Maybe she was waving goodbye to Morgan as he prepared to leap into the icy waterfall.

A view from the top of the hike.

Wendy enjoying a drink from the Lava Lounge.
Here's a movie of the angry volcano. We were lucky enough to see some lava slide down the mountainside in the evening!

Honeymoon Days 6-9 Arenal Volcano
The honeymooners sadly left the Pacuare Lodge... it was much like leaving overnight camp... saying goodbye to all the other campers and the counselors.
But they had more adventure to come as they set off for La Fortuna and the Arenal Volcano (the world's second most active volcano!).
Here's the view of the volcano from our patio.
The couple made a short trip to the Tabacón hot springs. The springs are naturally heated by the Arenal Volcano and are ~100-104 degrees. Here they are enjoying the hot springs in one of the waterfall areas. They then enjoyed their quintessential honeymoon moment drinking Piña Coladas at the swim up bar.
The couple ventured off to the Hanging Bridges to tour the rainforest and spot some wildlife. To Morgan's surprise he spotted the blue-shirted Wendy bird on the first bridge!
To the couple's surprise and delight, they spotted a family of monkeys on the way to the market. There was even a cute little baby monkey. Here's a video of what they saw.

Honeymoon Days 3-5 Pacuare Lodge ctd...
Some more pictures from Pacuare lodge.
The honeymooners were feeling adventurous and did the canopy tour. Eight ziplines and two repels through the rainforest. Not for the timid.
Here's Wendy preparing to take off.

Here's Wendy in the middle (the little speck with a red helmet)... let's hope she has enough speed to make it across!

Here comes Morgan to see his lovely wife.

The honeymooners then retired to their room and their own private pool.

The view we woke up to every morning!

Honeymoon Days 3-5 Pacuare Lodge
Monday morning (5:30 a.m.) the honeymooners woke up to prepare for their trip to the inner depths of the jungle.
The Pacuare bus picked them up at 6:30 and they were on their way. Here's a picture of Morgan eating the typico (typical) Costa Rican breakfast (this was Morgan's second breakfast of the day.
Here's a view from the breakfast stop... just one hour from the river launch site. It was rainy!

Now we have to fast forward through the rafting trip... our camera was secured away. The rafting was quite amazing! Morgan was a hero this day... he reached out and grabbed his wife's hand to save her from peril (ok... maybe an exaggeration, but he did reach out and pull Wendy back towards the raft). After our guide Andrés filled our raft with water and joked around with us for a few hours we arrived at the Pacuare Lodge.
Here's a beautiful aerial photo of the lodge (dining and bar area). We'll show you how we got this picture a little later.
Here's the river.
And here is our beautiful Honeymoon Suite! It blew us away. The pictures will not do it justice. We were standing out on our private tree lookout taking this picture.
Here's the bedroom... with mosquito net.
Here's the view from our patio area. A wate

Here's the bathroom (not possible to capture in one photo). Did we mention... that there was no electricity, thus, the candles are our only source of light at night... very romantic... oo-la-la!
More pictures to come... gotta go get breakfast before me embark on our trip to the Arenal Volcano!

Honeymoon... Day 2!
Morgan and Wendy awoke to the hustle and bustle of downtown San José this morning. They enjoyed the complimentary breakfast at the hotel (including wonderful fresh papaya, watermelon and pineapple). Then they planned out their big San José walking adventure.
Morgan standing in Parqué España (Spain Park). We will try and teach everyone a little Spanish along the way!
Some vines in Parqué España... don't worry Morgan did not do his Tarzan impression.
Windblown Wendy walking down the street (all by herself!).
A little art along the sidewalk.
Wendy and Morgan then went to the ATM to get some colones (50,000 to be exact... to bad 1 colon ≠ 1 dollar). With their new found wealth, they went and bought some bottled water, drinkable yogurt, and cookies at the mercado (market). Then they bought some empañadas (pastries filled with meat and spices) at a small bakery to go with their other treats for a nice little lunch back in the hotel room, which happens to be larger than their apartamenté (apartment).

The sitting area in the hotel, which also has a little dining area and bedroom. Below is one last picture of una niña (a little girl). She was very cute sitting on a wooden horse getting her picture taken by all the tourists.

Honeymoon!
We made it to Costa Rica!
Our flights were much better than our Christmas trip through Detroit... although that's not saying much. We started off with a pre-flight smoothie (Wendy liked it even though she thought it was over-blended). We then connected in Miami... our flight was delayed 1 hour. We had to sit on the plane for that entire hour. It was a little stuffy. We made it through customs and into an orange cab (you're not supposed to take any others... Morgan almost made the mistake of being lured away by a sketchy cabbie).
We have one pre-flight picture that will be posted tomorrow (CORRECTION: It will be posted right now... Morgan is maintaining wedded bliss). Morgan is too lazy to do that right now.
We will keep you posted as we can. We do not foresee having Internet access in the jungle mon-wed.
Honeymoon Day 1 (Morgan and Wendy are still experiencing wedded bliss!)
If you turn your head sideways, you will see Wendy in the check-in line at Logan airport. We saved the boarding pass (Wendy's first with the last name Hynes).
